Juban
Juban is typically made of silk ,wool and cotton in white or flesh tones for women. It can vary in color and material depending on the color and design of the kimono it’s worn with. For instance, consideration may be given to harmonizing the color and pattern of the “juban” with the visible parts of the kimono such as the collar and cuffs.
There are several types commonly used:
1. Standard : worn with most kimonos.
2. Made of cotton, offering breathability and suitable for summer or sensitive skin.
3. Made of hemp(asa), known for its moisture-wicking properties and cool feel.
4. Open-back (Senaka-biraki Juban): with it’s open back, allowing for the kimono’s back design to be visible.
The “juban” is an essential garment for wearing a kimono, contributing to both the proper dressing and the preservation of the kimono’s beauty and comfort.
Juban for men are now popular as outerwear. We exclusively offer beautifully curated second-hand. Of course, it is absolutely necessary as undergarments when wearing a kimono.”
